How to install and open Lockdown Browser!

About Lockdown Browser:

Navarro College uses Respondus Lockdown Browser to monitor exams, quizes, etc. Lockdown can be used both in the testing lab and on your personal computer. Your course syllabus will let you know whether or not proctored testing is required. Testing requirements may vary from course to course. Proctored exams must have access to a compatible computer, a webcam/mic, and a reliable internet connection.

How to install:

  • Step 1: Download the installation link provided by your professor. This is usually is given in the Syllabus.
  • Step 2: Go through the installer untill you see "Finish".
  • Step 3: After the installation is complete. Login into your assignment/test/quiz through the lockdown browser app that is now on your home screen.

    Check your syllabus or course content provided by your instructor, or the Online Testing page.

    I have downloaded the browser but the test says it's still not installed. What do I do?
    Make sure you are logging into your MyNC/Canvas through the Lockdown Browser app directly. Not through google, safari, edge, etc.

    The link my professor has provided doesn't work. What do I do?
    Check the Online Testing page on the Navarro College website.

    My computer kicked me out of my exam, and I cannot get back into it. Can IT re-open the exam?
    No, this would be a question for your instructor. They will decide if the exam should be re-opened.

    My students are trying to take a test, but nothing is happening. What is wrong?
    Are you using a chromebook? If so, please be sure to check your Google Chrome extensions in your settings, and make sure Lockdown Browser is not blocked. NOTE: Chromebooks and Lockdown Browser do not work well together.

    Can I use the same Lockdown Browser from a previous school I have attended?
    No, Lockdown Browser is custom to our institution. Therefore, you CANNOT use another version of Lockdown from a previous institution that you have attended.
