The Testing Center is dedicated to providing all examinees a quiet, non-disruptive setting in which they may test for college placement (TSI Assessment), credit by examination (CLEP), entrance into Allied Health programs (TEAS), higher education equivalency (GED and TASC), as well as for online and distance education courses. Our goal in Testing is to ensure your success through supporting your assessment needs as effectively and efficiently as possible.
All tests at all Navarro College Testing Centers require a photo ID. Some items are not allowed in testing centers; however, lockers are available for your convenience at all our locations. Earplugs are also available upon request. Our test centers will always provide you with any pencils or scratch paper you may need while testing.
All testing is by appointment. Please note that we recommend you make your appointment 48 hours prior to the date you wish to test so that we may best accommodate you. Students will not be permitted to begin a test within two hours of closing. All exams are collected at closing time, even if not complete.

The TSIA2 Assessment is a computer adaptive test, which means that each question is chosen based on your answers to previous questions, tailoring your test specifically for you and your ability level. The test helps us determine if you are ready for college-level course work in the general subjects of writing, reading, and mathematics. Your scores will be used to either place you in a college-level course or in the appropriate developmental course to improve your skills and prepare you for success in college-level courses
It is mandatory that you complete the Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) prior to taking the TSIA2 Assessment for the first time. The PAA helps prepare you for the placement test and includes the following information:
An explanation of the importance of the TSIA2 Assessment, how to understand your score report, and provides resources for studying. The CollegeBoard offers a new TSIA2 Assessment Web-Based Study App that is free for all students. You can use this tool to familiarize yourself with basic content questions asked on the TSIA2 Assessment. This study guide app features practice tests in the Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra, College-Level Math, Reading, Comprehension and Sentence Skills which can be accessed from a tablet, smartphone, or computer using a standard browser.
The TSIA2 Assessment is administered on an appointment basis at each of Navarro College’s Testing Centers. The days and times available varies for the different campuses, so be sure to call ahead to set your appointment.
The fee for the TSIA2 Assessment is $35 for Navarro College students. The TSIA2 Assessment fee is to be paid at the Cashier’s Office the day of the test. Navarro College prospective students should have submitted an Application for Admission to the Admissions Office prior to testing.
The test is untimed, and the actual length of the test varies. You should allot three to five hours for the TSIA2 Assessment. Please keep in mind, the multiple-choice portions of the TSIA2 Assessment can be saved and finished later if you run out of time for the day or need to take a long break; however, you must complete the essay portion in one sitting.
You will need photo identification and the $35 test fee. The Navarro College Testing Center will provide scratch paper and pencils; the calculator is built into the test program. No study aids will be allowed.
You can go to the official TSIA2 Assessment website for sample questions. You may also download the TSIA2 Web-Based Study App, accessible from any computer, tablet or smartphone.
There have been changes to the TSIA2 writing scoring scale:
The newly approved college readiness benchmarks for writing are as follows:
A placement score of at least 340 and an essay score of at least 4; OR A placement score of less than 340 and an ABE diagnostic level of at least a 4 and an essay score of at least 5. The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP®) offers you the opportunity to receive college credit for what you already know by earning qualifying scores on any of the 33 CLEP examinations. CLEP exams allow people who have acquired comprehensive subject knowledge through independent or prior study, on-the-job training, or cultural pursuits to show that they have acquired college-level knowledge.
To register for a CLEP test, go to the official CLEP webpage (http://clep.collegeboard.org) where you will create an account, select your examination, and pay the $93 test fee. CLEP’s My Account is a feature that enables candidates to create and manage their own personal accounts, register and pay for CLEP exams, and purchase study materials all in one place. After you have registered online, you will need to schedule an appointment either in person or by phone at (903) 875-7457.
The CLEP test is administered on an appointment basis on the Corsicana campus only. Appointment times are Mondays through Fridays at 10:00am. You may not take an examination for credit in any subject for which you have already received a passing grade. Keep in mind that you may not repeat an examination of the same title within six months of the initial testing date.
The CLEP test fee is $93.00, paid directly to the testing company, for all students. The $93.00 may be paid by credit/debit (MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express), after you have registered at the official website. Upon completion of payment, you should receive a registration ticket which you will need to print or have available on your smartphone when you arrive at the Testing Center. An additional $25.00 administration fee is assessed for all students and is to be paid at the Cashier’s Office the day of the test.
You are allotted 90 minutes for all CLEP tests. Please keep in mind, the CLEP test must be completed at a single sitting. You will receive your official score report (except for the College Composition exam which is scored every 14 days) before leaving the Testing Center on the test day. It may take several weeks for your institution to receive its official score report and award credit.
You will need photo identification, your printed registration ticket, and a receipt for the $25.00 administration fee. Required identification for the CLEP tests include one valid, government-issued ID with your photo and signature as well as a secondary ID with your name and either photo or signature. Employee IDs, Social Security cards, and credit/debit cards are not acceptable forms of ID for CLEP examinations. The Navarro College Testing Center will provide pencils and scratch paper.
